John Robertson was Nottingham Forest’s iconic left winger in the Clough/Taylor era: a clever, two-footed wide player who could beat defenders, create chances, and deliver in big moments. He provided the cross for Trevor Francis’ winner in the 1979 European Cup final, then scored the winning goal himself as Forest beat Hamburg 1–0 in the 1980 European Cup final in Madrid. His Forest league record is commonly listed at 386 league games, 61 goals (two spells). He also won 28 Scotland caps.
