Trevor Francis scored the winning goal for Nottingham Forest in the 1979 European Cup final against Malmö FF at Munich’s Olympiastadion on 30 May 1979. The move is iconic: John Robertson drove down the left and delivered a teasing cross, which Francis attacked to score with a close-range header just before half-time—his decisive contribution on his European Cup debut for Forest. The 1–0 win delivered Forest’s first European Cup, and Clough’s big-money punt on the then £1m striker was instantly vindicated.
