Brian Clough’s Nottingham Forest reign (1975–1993) is one of English football’s most extraordinary eras: he took a Second Division club to the top of Europe. Reunited with assistant Peter Taylor in 1976, Forest won promotion in 1977 and then immediately won the First Division title in 1977–78. Forest also won the European Cup twice (1979, 1980), a near-unmatched feat for a club of their size, plus multiple domestic cups under Clough, including four League Cups (1978, 1979, 1989, 1990).
