Ian Bowyer was a key midfielder in Nottingham Forest’s Clough/Taylor golden era, valued for stamina, timing, and decisive goals from midfield. He had two spells at Forest (1973–81, 1982–87) and made 500+ appearances, scoring 90+ goals across all competitions. Crucially, Bowyer played in both European Cup finals Forest won, starting the 1979 win over Malmö and the 1980 win over Hamburg. He also scored important European goals en route—such as a semi-final winner vs Köln (1979) and two goals vs Östers (1979–80).
