Iwan Roberts was one of Norwich City’s great modern centre-forwards: physical, honest and hugely effective. Signed from Wolves in 1997, he became the focal point of the attack and scored 96 goals for the club. His best season came in 1998/99, when he hit 23 league goals, and he later helped Norwich win promotion to the Premier League in 2003/04 under Nigel Worthington. Roberts was never glamorous, but his strength, work-rate and finishing made him a Carrow Road favourite. By the time he left in 2004, he had become one of Norwich’s most respected modern strikers.
