Bryan Gunn is one of Norwich City’s defining modern figures. Signed from Aberdeen in 1986, he became the club’s long-serving goalkeeper during their late-1980s and early-1990s peak, including the 1988/89 fourth-place finish, the 1992 FA Cup semi-final and the famous 1993 UEFA Cup run. He made 477 appearances for Norwich and was later named in the club’s Hall of Fame. Gunn’s bond with supporters went beyond football, especially after the death of his young daughter Francesca and his family’s major charity work. He later managed Norwich briefly in 2009, but he is remembered above all as a loyal, respected goalkeeping great.
