Papiss Cissé arrived at Newcastle United in January 2012 from Freiburg and instantly became a cult hero. A penalty-box striker with sharp movement and instinctive finishing, he exploded with 13 goals in 14 Premier League games in the run-in, driving a 5th-place finish and European qualification. His defining highlight was the outrageous outside-of-the-boot strike away at Chelsea FC in May 2012—still one of the Premier League’s most replayed goals. Often paired with Demba Ba, he finished with 44 goals in 131 for Newcastle before leaving in 2016.
