Yohan Cabaye was one of Newcastle United’s classiest midfielders of the Premier League era. He joined from Lille in 2011 and quickly became central to Newcastle’s best season in years, helping them finish 5th in 2011–12 with his passing range, set-pieces, and tactical discipline alongside Cheick Tioté. Cabaye’s corners and free-kicks were a major weapon, and he chipped in with big goals too. He stayed through the next couple of seasons before leaving for Paris Saint-Germain in January 2014, a move that marked the end of a key spine in that Newcastle side.
