Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s goal against Uruguay at the 2010 World Cup is one of the greatest long-range strikes ever scored. In the semi-final, he picked up the ball well inside his own half, carried it forward, and unleashed a powerful left-footed shot from around 40 yards. The ball rocketed into the top corner, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance. The goal opened the scoring in a 3–2 win for the Netherlands and sent them to the World Cup final. It remains a defining moment of the tournament.
