Marco van Basten’s volley in the Euro 1988 final is one of the greatest goals in football history. Against the Soviet Union, he met Arnold Mühren’s looping cross from a very tight angle on the right side of the box. Without taking a touch, Van Basten struck a stunning first-time volley that flew across goal and into the far top corner. The difficulty of the angle, the perfect timing, and the power made it unforgettable. The goal sealed a 2–0 win for the Netherlands and secured their first major international trophy, forever defining Van Basten’s legendary career.
