Dougie Arnott became a Motherwell cult hero after joining from Pollok in 1986, with the diminutive striker renowned for his pace, movement, work rate and eye for goal; he formed a memorable partnership with Tommy Coyne and played a major role in the club’s successful early-1990s side, most notably helping Motherwell win the 1991 Scottish Cup, and across more than a decade at Fir Park he made over 300 appearances, with his energetic style, important goals and long service making him one of the Steelmen’s most popular modern players.
