The Den is central to Millwall’s identity: not just a stadium, but a statement of place and character. Millwall moved there in August 1993 after leaving The Old Den, their home for 83 years, and the new ground was one of the first purpose-built all-seater stadiums completed in England after the Taylor Report. Built close to the old site in south-east London, it kept the club rooted in the same area while modernising its image. With a capacity of about 20,000, The Den has never relied on glamour; its reputation comes from atmosphere, hostility for visiting sides and the sense that Millwall at home remains something distinctive in English football.
