Keith Stevens was classic Millwall: tough, local, loyal and deeply tied to one of the club’s biggest eras. A one-club defender, he spent his entire professional career at Millwall from 1980 to 1999, making 462 league appearances and helping the club win promotion to the Second Division in 1985 and to the top flight in 1988. He was part of the side that finished 10th in the First Division in 1988/89, still Millwall’s highest league finish. Later, as manager and then co-manager with Alan McLeary, he took Millwall to their first official Wembley appearance in the 1999 Football League Trophy final.
