Teddy Sheringham’s Millwall spell was where he became more than a prospect and turned into one of the club’s great forwards. Coming through at The Den, he played for Millwall from 1983 to 1991, scoring 111 goals in all competitions and 93 in the league, which made him the club’s record scorer until 2009. He was central to the 1987/88 promotion side and then helped Millwall shock the top flight in 1988/89, forming a dangerous partnership with Tony Cascarino. His final season was his sharpest: 38 goals in all competitions in 1990/91 before a £2 million move to Nottingham Forest.
