Tim Cahill’s Millwall years were the making of him. Signed from Sydney United in 1997, he developed into an aggressive, goal-scoring midfielder and became one of the club’s driving forces. He made 217 league appearances and scored 52 league goals for Millwall before leaving for Everton in 2004. Cahill was central to the 2000/01 Second Division title win and then to the 2004 FA Cup run, scoring the semi-final winner against Sunderland as Millwall reached their first FA Cup final. That run also secured UEFA Cup qualification because Manchester United had already qualified for the Champions League. For many supporters, he remains one of Millwall’s most influential modern players.
