RVP's volley against Aston Villa is the signature moment of Van Persie’s United career. It came at Old Trafford on 22 April 2013 against Aston Villa, in the match that confirmed United as Premier League champions (a 3–0 win). With United already 1–0 up, Wayne Rooney hit a long, raking pass over the top; Van Persie timed his run perfectly and, without letting the ball drop, struck a first-time left-foot volley that flew into the corner. It was the second of his first-half hat-trick and is still replayed as one of the great Premier League title-clinching goals.
