Phil Jones’ Manchester United career (2011–2023) is a story of early promise, then relentless injury frustration. Signed from Blackburn in 2011, he was tipped as a future defensive leader because of his athleticism, bravery and versatility (centre-back, right-back, even midfield). He won the Premier League in 2012–13 under Sir Alex, plus the FA Cup (2016) and Europa League (2017). But recurring fitness issues repeatedly derailed momentum; he made 169 league appearances across 12 years and left when his contract expired in summer 2023.
