The Etihad Stadium (originally the City of Manchester Stadium) is Manchester City’s home in East Manchester (the “Etihad Campus”). It was built for the 2002 Commonwealth Games, opening in July 2002, then converted from an athletics venue into a football ground; City moved in for the 2003–04 season. In 2011 it was renamed the Etihad Stadium as part of a naming-rights deal with Etihad Airways. After expansions, it’s around 55,000 capacity and is being developed again to push it over 60,000 (North Stand project).
