Éric Cantona at Manchester United (1992–1997) is basically the spark that lit the modern era. Signed from Leeds in November 1992, he brought swagger, invention, and a new level of belief—linking midfield to attack with touch, vision, and big-game nerve. Under Alex Ferguson, Cantona became the team’s leader in spirit, wearing the captain’s armband and delivering decisive moments (including the 1996 FA Cup final winner). In five seasons he won 4 league titles and 2 FA Cups, helping turn United into the dominant force of the 1990s. He retired suddenly in 1997, leaving a myth as much as a record.
