Pablo Zabaleta’s Man City spell (2008–2017) was pure reliability and edge. Signed from Espanyol in 2008 (reported €8m/£6.45m), he became the ultimate “manager’s right-back”: aggressive 1v1 defending, nonstop overlapping runs, and a leader in the dressing room. He made 333 appearances for City and was loved for big-game grit as the club transformed into serial winners. His honours include two Premier League titles (2011–12, 2013–14), the 2011 FA Cup, two League Cups, and the 2012 Community Shield. Pep later called him a “legend” as he left in 2017.
