Mario Balotelli’s “Why Always Me?” celebration is one of the Premier League’s most infamous scenes. It happened in the Manchester derby at Old Trafford on 23 October 2011, when City dismantled United 6–1. Balotelli scored City’s opener (around the 22nd minute) and lifted his shirt to reveal the slogan on an undershirt. The message was basically a clapback at the constant headlines and criticism around him—he later said it was aimed at people “talking bad” about him without knowing him. It instantly became a meme and a symbol of his chaotic City era.
