Joleon Lescott’s Man City spell (2009–2014) was a key part of the club’s “first title” core: a strong, no-nonsense centre-back who partnered well with Kompany and brought aerial power at both ends. City signed him from Everton in 2009 for around £22m, a big statement fee at the time. He made 107 league appearances (160 in all comps) and scored important goals, including from set pieces. His honours haul included the 2011 FA Cup, the 2011–12 Premier League, the 2013–14 Premier League, and the 2013–14 League Cup before leaving in 2014.
