Mike Doyle was one of Manchester City’s defining figures of the late-60s/70s: a hard, uncompromising leader who could play in midfield or centre-back and set the tone for the team’s “golden era.” He made 570 appearances for City (1965–1978) and is often described by the club as their most decorated player. He won the First Division title (1967–68), FA Cup (1969), League Cup (1970) and European Cup Winners’ Cup (1970), and later captained City to the 1976 League Cup. He also earned 5 England caps.
