Scott Carson’s Manchester City stint (2019–2025) was the ultimate “veteran squad glue” role. He arrived on loan from Derby in 2019, then signed permanently in 2021, basically as third-choice keeper and experienced dressing-room presence. He barely played—City record sites list 2 senior appearances (Newcastle away in 2021, plus a brief Champions League outing vs Sporting in 2022)—but Pep and teammates constantly praised his influence in training. He still collected major honours, including the 2023 Champions League, before leaving when his contract expired in 2025 and later announcing his retirement.
