Bill Shankly is the man who rebuilt Liverpool into a modern powerhouse. Appointed manager in December 1959, he inherited a Second Division club and transformed its standards, culture, and belief. He overhauled the squad, modernised training, and created the famous “Boot Room” ethos that shaped Liverpool for decades. Shankly won promotion in 1962, then delivered three First Division titles (1964, 1966, 1973), two FA Cups (1965, 1974), and the UEFA Cup (1973). Beyond trophies, he forged Liverpool’s identity: relentless work, unity with supporters, and the idea that the club belonged to the people.
