Brendan Rodgers managed Liverpool from June 2012 to October 2015, overseeing a clear shift toward proactive, possession-based football and aggressive pressing. His peak was 2013–14, when Liverpool came agonisingly close to the Premier League title, powered by the Suárez–Sturridge attack and a high-tempo, chance-heavy style. He also helped develop key players (notably Raheem Sterling and Philippe Coutinho) and delivered memorable big wins, but defensive instability and a difficult post-Suárez rebuild saw results dip. Liverpool reached two cup semi-finals in 2014–15 and later the 2016 League Cup semi-final began under him but was completed after his departure.
