Michael Owen at Liverpool (1996–2004) was a pure, explosive goalscorer—built on blistering pace, sharp movement off the last defender, and ruthless one-on-one finishing. He broke through as a teenager, won the PFA Young Player of the Year and quickly became the club’s main threat in the late 90s. His defining Liverpool year was 2000–01, when he scored two late goals to win the FA Cup final vs Arsenal and helped Liverpool complete a famous cup treble (FA Cup, League Cup, UEFA Cup). He left for Real Madrid in 2004 with 158 goals for the club.
