Bruce Grobbelaar was Liverpool’s flamboyant, big-game goalkeeper from 1981–1994, making 440 league appearances (over 600 in all competitions) in one of the club’s most trophy-rich eras. He’s forever linked with the 1984 European Cup final in Rome: his famous “spaghetti legs” mind games in the shootout helped Liverpool beat AS Roma and lift the trophy. At his best he mixed athletic, improvised shot-stopping with swagger and psychology—sometimes chaotic, often decisive. His honours with Liverpool include six league titles, domestic cups, and that European Cup triumph.
