Ray Clemence was Liverpool’s goalkeeper bedrock in their rise to dominance. Playing for the club from 1967–1981, he combined razor-sharp positioning, brave one-on-ones, and a calm authority that made Liverpool brutally hard to beat. He was a key figure under both Bill Shankly and Bob Paisley, and his consistency in big European nights helped define the era. Clemence won an incredible haul at Anfield, including multiple league titles and three European Cups (1977, 1978, 1981). Often underrated because he made saves look routine, he’s still widely viewed as one of Liverpool’s greatest ever keepers.
