Jamie Carragher at Liverpool (1996–2013) was the club’s defensive heartbeat: a one-club man who built a legendary career on bravery, organisation, and total commitment. Mostly a centre-back (also right-back early on), he wasn’t about flair—he was about reading danger, blocking shots, throwing his body into tackles, and leading the line with constant talking. He was a key figure under Houllier, Benítez and Klopp’s early years, but his defining peak was Rafa’s era: Champions League winner in 2005 (Istanbul), finalist again in 2007, and the defensive leader of countless European nights. Carragher finished with 737 appearances, captained the side, and remains a symbol of “play for the badge” Liverpool identity.
