The Istanbul final is the 2005 Champions League final on 25 May 2005: Liverpool vs AC Milan at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium. Liverpool were 3–0 down at half-time (Maldini, Crespo x2). After the break they scored three in six minutes — Gerrard (54’), Šmicer (56’), Alonso (60’, follow-up after a saved penalty) — to make it 3–3. Milan still had huge chances in extra time, but Jerzy Dudek produced iconic saves, then Liverpool won the shootout 3–2, with Dudek’s “spaghetti legs” helping. It delivered Liverpool’s 5th European Cup and one of football’s greatest nights.
