Linfield’s 2017 Irish Cup win completed a domestic double. In the final on 6 May 2017 at the National Football Stadium at Windsor Park, they beat Coleraine 3–0, with Andrew Waterworth scoring all three goals. That hat-trick was a major talking point, with the Irish FA noting he became the first player in 48 years to score three in an Irish Cup final. The win secured Linfield’s 43rd Irish Cup, extending their record in the competition, and it capped a season in which David Healy’s side had already won the league title. In simple terms, it was an emphatic final and a landmark cup success.
