Grant Brown is a Lincoln City legend and the club’s record appearance holder, playing 469 league games and more than 490 matches in all competitions for the Imps between 1989 and 2002; a dependable and versatile defender, Brown became renowned for his consistency, leadership and commitment during more than a decade at Sincil Bank, playing under numerous managers and through several promotion and relegation battles; he was part of the side that won promotion from the Third Division in 1997–98, and his longevity made him a huge favourite with supporters; Brown later returned to Lincoln in various coaching roles, including several spells as caretaker manager, strengthening his long association with the club.
