Arthur Rowley was one of Leicester City’s greatest ever goalscorers and remains second on the club’s all-time scoring list. He played for Leicester from 1950 to 1958, scoring 265 goals in 321 competitive appearances, with 251 league goals in 303 league matches. His peak came in 1956–57, when he scored 44 league goals in 42 games, still a club record for a single league season. Rowley helped Leicester win the Second Division title in both 1953–54 and 1956–57, and his finishing made him the central attacking force of that era. He was one of the club’s most prolific and important pre-modern stars.
