Stan Collymore’s Leicester City spell was brief but memorable. Martin O’Neill signed him in February 2000 as a gamble on a hugely talented but unpredictable striker, and for a short period it worked. Collymore scored 5 league goals in 11 appearances for Leicester, including a hat-trick in a 5–2 win over Sunderland on his home debut, which remains the standout moment of his time at Filbert Street. At his best, he gave Leicester a different kind of attacking quality: powerful, technical, and unpredictable. But the move never became a long-term success, and he left in October 2000 after O’Neill’s departure.
