Norman Hunter was one of Leeds United’s greatest defenders, making 726 appearances between 1962 and 1976 and becoming famous for his uncompromising tackling, which earned him the nickname “Bites Yer Legs”; a cornerstone of Don Revie’s legendary side, he helped Leeds win two First Division titles, the 1972 FA Cup, 1968 League Cup and two Inter-Cities Fairs Cups, while his quality on the ball made him far more than simply a tough defender, and Hunter also represented England 28 times, was part of the 1966 World Cup-winning squad, and became the first recipient of the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award in 1974.
