Robbie Keane’s defining moment vs Germany came at the 2002 World Cup on 5 June 2002 in Ibaraki (Kashima Stadium). Germany led through Miroslav Klose (19'), and Ireland pushed hard late on. In stoppage time (90+2), Steve Finnan launched a long ball, Niall Quinn won the header, and Keane lashed a finish that struck the post and dropped in past Oliver Kahn to make it 1–1. The point proved pivotal as Ireland went on to qualify from Group E.
