Shay Given (Republic of Ireland, 1996–2016) was Ireland’s long-time No.1 and one of their most consistent modern performers, finishing with 134 caps (Ireland’s second-highest men’s total). He debuted as a teenager in 1996 and became first choice through the early 2000s, starring at the 2002 World Cup and later featuring at Euro 2012. His international career spanned more than 20 years, and he was part of the Euro 2016 squad before announcing retirement later that summer.
