Damien Duff was a key Republic of Ireland winger from 2000–2012, finishing with 100 caps and 8 goals. Quick, direct and hard-working, he gave Ireland width, ball-carrying and crossing, often balancing attack with disciplined tracking back. He featured at the 2002 World Cup, scoring against Saudi Arabia in Japan. Under Giovanni Trapattoni he was a regular in the successful Euro 2012 qualifying campaign, then captained Ireland on his 100th cap vs Italy at the finals—his last international appearance before retiring in August 2012.
