Mick Mills was one of Ipswich Town’s greatest ever players and the club’s record appearance holder. A full-back who could play on either side, he made 741 first-team appearances for Town between 1966 and 1982 and captained the club for 11 years. He was central to Bobby Robson’s great side, helping Ipswich win the FA Cup in 1978 and the UEFA Cup in 1981, while also finishing runners-up in the First Division twice. Mills combined consistency, intelligence, and leadership rather than glamour, but that made him the backbone of the team. He remains one of the defining figures in Ipswich history.
