Ray Crawford was one of Ipswich Town’s greatest ever forwards and remains the club’s record goalscorer. Across two spells, from 1958 to 1963 and again from 1966 to 1969, he scored 218 goals for Town, with 204 of those coming in the league. He was central to Alf Ramsey’s extraordinary rise, helping Ipswich win the Second Division in 1960–61 and then the First Division title in 1961–62, when he scored 33 league goals and finished as the division’s joint top scorer. Sharp, ruthless, and brilliantly consistent, Crawford was the leading striker in one of the most remarkable teams in English football history.
