Terry Butcher managed Inverness Caledonian Thistle from January 2009 to November 2013, with Maurice Malpas as his assistant. After relegation in 2009, he rebuilt quickly and won the Scottish First Division in 2009–10, taking Caley Thistle back to the SPL. His side then became established, finishing 7th in 2010–11, and enjoying a strong 2012–13 spell that even had them second late in 2012. They also reached the 2013 League Cup semi-final, losing to Hearts on penalties. Butcher left for Hibernian in November 2013.
