Garreth Roberts was one of Hull City’s great one-club servants. A Hull-born midfielder, he played his entire professional career with the Tigers from 1978 to 1991, making 487 appearances in all competitions and scoring 59 goals. He captained the side while still young and became a key figure under Brian Horton, helping Hull win promotions in 1982/83 and 1984/85. His best goalscoring season brought 14 goals in 47 appearances. Injuries forced him to retire at just 31, but his longevity and leadership made him a lasting Hull favourite. He was inducted into the club’s Hall of Fame in 2021.
