Boaz Myhill became a key figure in Hull City’s remarkable climb through the divisions after joining from Aston Villa in 2003, quickly establishing himself as the Tigers’ first-choice goalkeeper; he helped Peter Taylor’s side achieve back-to-back promotions in 2003–04 and 2004–05, taking Hull from the fourth tier into the Championship, before playing a crucial role under Phil Brown in the historic 2007–08 promotion campaign, culminating in the 1–0 Championship play-off final victory over Bristol City at Wembley; Myhill then remained first choice as Hull competed in the Premier League for the first time, helping them preserve their top-flight status in 2008–09; making more than 250 appearances before joining West Bromwich Albion in 2010, his consistency and longevity made him one of the defining players of Hull’s rise from the lower leagues to the Premier League.
