Eddie Turnbull is one of the most important figures in Hibernian history, both as a player and as a manager. As a member of the Famous Five, he helped Hibs win three league titles in 1948, 1951 and 1952, and he scored 150 goals in league football for the club. He later returned as manager in 1971 and built the exciting side known as “Turnbull’s Tornadoes.” Under Turnbull, Hibs won the 1972–73 Scottish League Cup, the Drybrough Cup in 1972 and 1973, and recorded the famous 7–0 derby win over Hearts on 1 January 1973. His team also finished second in the league in 1974 and 1975. Hibs regard him as one of the club’s defining legends.
