Michael Stewart’s Hibernian spell was brief but eventful. Signed in 2005 after leaving Manchester United and a loan spell at Hearts, the Edinburgh midfielder gave Hibs bite, energy and edge in the centre of the park. He played two seasons at Easter Road, making 54 league appearances and scoring 2 league goals, and was part of the side that won the 2006–07 Scottish League Cup. His time at Hibs ended in 2007 when the club chose not to extend his contract. He remains a notable, if slightly unusual, figure because he played for both sides of the Edinburgh derby.
