Jim Jefferies is one of Hearts’ most respected modern managers. A former club captain as a player, he first managed Hearts from 1995 to 2000, building a strong, attacking side that famously won the 1998 Scottish Cup, beating Rangers 2–1 at Celtic Park — the club’s first major trophy in 36 years. His team, featuring Colin Cameron, Stephane Adam, and Neil McCann, also finished third in the Premier League and competed in Europe. Jefferies returned for a second spell in January 2010, stabilising the team and leading them to a third-place finish in 2010–11, before leaving in August 2011.
