Hearts’ 1998 Scottish Cup win was one of the club’s greatest modern moments. On 16 May 1998, Jim Jefferies’ side beat Rangers 2–1 at Celtic Park to lift the trophy for the first time since 1962. Colin Cameron scored from the penalty spot after just two minutes, then Stéphane Adam made it 2–0 early in the second half before Ally McCoist pulled one back for Rangers. Gilles Rousset was named man of the match, and the victory carried extra weight because Hearts had lost both the 1996 Scottish Cup final and 1996 Scottish League Cup final to Rangers. It remains one of the defining days in Hearts history.
