Greenock Morton’s 1993–95 spell was a sharp drop, then an immediate bounce. In 1993–94 they struggled in the Scottish First Division (second tier), finishing 11th with 6 wins, 17 draws and 21 defeats, scoring 44 and conceding 75. Relegation was sealed in the major league restructure that sent five clubs down. Cup runs were modest: Scottish Cup round four, League Cup round three and Challenge Cup round one. In 1994–95, under Allan McGraw, Morton reset in the Second Division, won the title with a 18–10–8 record (55–33), and secured promotion at the first attempt, and restored belief around Cappielow Park.
