Johnny Jameson was one of Glentoran’s standout attacking players of the 1980s and early 1990s. A skilful, creative midfielder, he joined the Glens in 1980 after a spell with Linfield and went on to become a major Oval figure. Glentoran’s Hall of Fame credits him with 498 appearances and 123 goals, which puts him among the club’s leading appearance-makers and scorers. During his time there he helped the club win major honours, including league titles and the 1989–90 Irish Cup. In simple terms, Jameson mixed flair with output and longevity, which is why he is still remembered as one of Glentoran’s notable modern-era talents.
